Nasdaq proves unkind to asian tech firms

Article Abstract:

Of the ten Chinese and Hong Kong stocks that listed on the Nasdaq in 2001, two are now trading below $1, two that were trading below $1 dollar are now above, three are below $2 but have never gone below $1, and three have always traded above $2, with the IPO prices ranging from $9 to $24. The Asian stocks declined an average of 70% over the last 12 months, compared to a 35 percent drop in the Nasdaq Composite Index.

Mahathir props up cushion

Article Abstract:

Malaysia's prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad, has introduced an economic plan that includes a three billion ringgit ($789.5 million) fiscal-stimulus package. The idea is to provide some measure of support against the weakening United States economy. The plan received a cold reception on the Malaysia stock market, with the benchmark Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Composite Index falling 5.80 points to 663.47.
