Norway is headed toward a period of price inflation, according to the current statistics available to the central bank. Inflation is expected to rise 1.25% in 1996, and 2.5% in 1997, .5% higher than previously forecast. Higher wages has led to increasing consumer demand for many goods, and has initiated the rise in prices. Domestic production is expected to rise as a result, putting additional pressure on wages, which may grow 5% in 1997.
