Iraq needs new fields to restore oil output to its prewar levels

Article Abstract:

New oil fields will be needed to restore Iraq's oil production to pre-2003 Iraq war levels. The country's oil facilities have been hit by sabotage and lotting since the end of the U.S. invasion of the country.

Storm's damage to energy plants appears limited

Article Abstract:

Petroleum and gas industry damage due to Hurricane Rita in the Gulf of Mexico appears to be limited and not expected to blow into a longterm economic burden. Oil and gas prices could increase, gasoline to $3 a gallon. Insured damage claims due to the hurricane appear to be $2.5 billion to $6 billion.
