Logistics software makers are re-designing their products to correspond with new business realities. Software vendors are engineering their products with a view of meeting the needs of their customers, and this often means that vendors have to learn the business of their customers. The result of this is a form of strategic partnership between the company and the software vendor.

Article Abstract:

Ampro Electronics decided to shift the sale of its automobiel anti-theft product called the Trap, from distributors of anti-theft devices, to consumer goods distributors. The Irvine, CA-based company reported that sales increased significantly after it did so. Ampro is now selling the Trap in 72 countries but notes that it is easier selling the device in other countries than in some. Ampro had to redesign the Trap's packaging to suit the conservative tastes of German consumers.
