Israel moves internal ship comms

Article Abstract:

Tadiran Electronic Systems of Israel has developed an improved version of the internal ship communications system, called ICS-10, for the three new Sa'ar 5 missile corvettes of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The ICS-10 system contains the ADS-21 audio and data-distribution subsystem capable of operating up to 32 switching and distribution units (SDUs) and two types of operator terminals. Tadiran also said that ADS-21, which already has interfaces for HF, UHF and VHF radios, can simultaneously handle data and voice traffic, while using a Windows PC-based configuration control unit for monitoring and modification of the communications plan.

Standard military radios transmit air-threat picture during UK demonstration

Article Abstract:

Alenia Marconi and the UK Defence Evaluation and Research Agency have jointly developed a system that transmit air-threat picture over standard military radio. In a demonstration, the littoral air picture was extracted from the ADIMP command and control system, and the information was passed via a gateway that converted the ADIMP data to standard TCP/IP format. The system uses commercial off-the-shelf parts.
