J.P. Morgan is new bell of plastic ball

Article Abstract:

Visa U.S.A. Inc. and MasterCard International Inc. are vying to become the dominant credit card brand for the newly combined banking company formed from J.P. Morgan Chase and Co.'s acquisition of Bank One Corp. While Visa provided the bulk of Bank One's credit cards, MasterCard provided most of J.P. Morgan's cards. The winner of the contract stands to gain a valuable position in an already competitive market.

Big German banks to sever most Iran ties

Germany's Commerzbank AG and Deutsche Bank AG have announced they will sever most of their existing ties to Iranian firms. Iran uses the banks to transfer money through euro-based accounts and for other functions associated with international commerce. The move acknowledges US political concerns.
