Who will defuse the millenium timebomb?

Article Abstract:

Some doomsayers from the consulting industry are predicting that the year 2000 computer bug could possibly result in a world recession and some $2 trillion in losses. Surveys also indicate that 23% of firms around the globe have done nothing to cope with the problem. However, computer-dependent firms have begun to attend to the problem by reworking system codes to accomodate four digits, contracting outside information technology consultants, and upgrading old computers to year 2000 compliant models.
