KUEHNE & NAGEL PUTS INDIA TOP ON EXPANSION SCHEDULE

Article Abstract:

Kuehne & Nagel, the world's biggest freight forwarding company, has decided to set up its own container freight stations in India as a part of its expansion programme in the next couple of years. It also plans to develop a dedicated sea route to North America keeping India as the base. It was the first foreign freight forwarding company to get permission to set up its 100 percent subsidiary in India in 1997-98. Its turnover from Indian operations is about Rs100 crore at present. BASKIN ROBBINS TO BRING IN TOGO, DUNKIN CHAIN STORES

Article Abstract:

Baskin Robbins India (BRI) plans to introduce `Togo', a sandwich store, and `Dunkin Doughnuts', a doughnut store, in India by 2000 AD. BRI is a 40:60 joint venture of Allied Domestic Plc (ADP) of UK and the Maharashtra Dairy Products Manufacturing Company (MDPMC). ADP owns both the Togo and the Dunkin Doughnuts brands. The launch of these will be through a franchise of exclusive retail outlets across India. Now, there are 100 exclusive outlets of BRI operating in India. (uh)
