A Wall St. Journal/NBC News poll shows support for Massachusetts senator and Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is running high as he approaches his party's nominating convention. Nevertheless, the results also suggest that Kerry has still to convince voters of his competence in matters of foreign policy and national defense.

Katrina erodes support in U.S. for Iraq War

The Iraq War has lost support amongst the American public and positive public opinion of President George W. Bush has dropped to 40 percent, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. To fund the recovery from Katrina, Americans are suggesting cutting spending in Iraq.
