Mobistar wants to set up an Intranet project of its own to compete with Win, the Walloon system of which Belgacom is the major operator. The Belgian mobile telephone services company is carrying out negotiations regarding this project, called StarNet, which involves France T l com (of which Mobistar is a subsidiary) and Telinfo on a 75:25 basis. Mobistar's idea is to offer services which will by-pass Belgacom in the future, while working at combining the mobile and fixed telephone systems. Thanks to its optical fibre network, Mobistar hopes to become an Internet service provider before the end of 1998, to rival Belgacom Skynet among others. The operator might then use France T l com's huge databases to offer services through the Web, subsequently.

Article Abstract:

The Belgian hollow glassware company, Verlipack, failed in its attempt to diversity to the mould making business. As a result of this failure, the firm is about to sell out the unit which has been dedicated to this business for four years, at Heppignies-Fleurus. The company, which has sold its administrative offices in Erpe-Mere through relocating the activity into the three main production units, is looking for further savings in property, including the selling of a warehouse at Mont-sur-Marchienne, an operation which is close to completion. Verlipack is facing big trouble at the moment.
