Article Abstract:

Mr. Miguel del Campo Rodriguez, the chief executive of Spanish company Asland, a subsidiary of the Lafarge group of France, has been promoted to the position of assistant managing director of the Finance division of the parent company in Paris. The executive will continue on Asland's board of directors as vice president. The role of managing director of the Spanish subsidiary will be taken on by Isidoro Miranda, the director of development of Lafarge to date.

Cementos Alfa inaugura en el Puerto de Santander un silo para 8,000 toneladas

Article Abstract:

A new silo with a storage capacity of 8,000 tonnes has been inaugurated in the port of Santander, Spain, by cement company Cementos Alfa, following investments of Pta 369mn. The new silo will increase Alfa's cement storage capacity to a total 16,000 tonnes, and allow for up to 30,000 tonnes of cement to be loaded and unloaded daily in the port. Cementos Alfa is lobbying with the Port Authority in Santander to carry out a dredging plan so larger ships can dock.

Article Abstract:

A new plant for packaging paint is to be built in 1999 in Badalona (Barcelona), Spain, by ICI. The Spanish subsidiary of the UK group produces coverings for food aerosol packaging, drinks packaging and closures, as well as adhesive for the flexible packaging market. Two new AGP additive (for agrichemicals) reactors are also to be installed in a new plant in Fogars de Tordera (Barcelona).
