Latest delivery boosts Jordan's Challenger fleet

Article Abstract:

Jordan is expecting to receive three driver training, five run only and 30 refurbished ex-British Army Challenger 1 tanks in Aug 2000. The run only tanks will be used to determine whether the King Hussein Main Workshop is capable of refurbishing and upgrading the Challenger 1, before the delivery of a batch of 44 run only tanks in November. Meanwhile, the King Abduallah II Design and Development Bureau has inked a contract with cls Systems for a prototype auxilliary power unit, which is intended to replace the existing power unit installed in the Jordan's Challenger 1 tanks.

Belgian reconaissance vehicle competition gets on the road

Article Abstract:

The Belgian Army is evaluating three proposals for its Recce 2000 reconaissance vehicle requirement. These three are the Fennek, which is offered by SP Aerospace and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, the Pandur, which is proposed by Steyr and Dasa and the Scarab, which is jointly developed by Alvis ad Mechem. The evaluation, which started in May 2000, will end in October, with the contract award scheduled for December.

Jordan secures Tiger 4x4 vehicle contract from UAE

Article Abstract:

King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau of Jordan has been awarded a contract by Bin Jabr Enterprises of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the co-operative development of the AB17 Tiger SAS 4x4 tactical utility vehicle. Two prototypes are scheduled for completion in time for display at the IDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2001. The AB17 will be powered by a Cummins EUSB 190 engine.
