Egypt's slow legal system, composed of a multitude of laws from different countries, may soon speed up as prime minister Kamal Ganzouri pushes for new legislation. The hampered legal system has led to borrowers not paying back their debts, knowing that it will take years to be prosecuted.

The public education system in Egypt is suffering due to low education and teaching standards, lack of funding and poor management. Teachers there do not have adequate training, and the average student only attends school for 4.5 years, instead of ten.

Article Abstract:

A highly controversial court ruling in Egypt has declared that professor Nasr Abu Zeid, an outspoken critic of Islam, cannot remain married to his Muslim wife. Abu Zeid has appealed the case, although the ruling has brought about fear for his safety.
