Leveraging emerging technologies in management education: research and experiences

Article Abstract:

The Business Navigator Method offers a framework for management education which incorporates multimedia technology to provide a virtual interactive business environment (VIBE). The user can move around in the virtual environment, interact with people, use equipment, develop an understanding of the organizational structure and gain access to other information, including documents and recorded interviews. A VIBE could be designed for individual use on CD-ROMs, but is more effective in a distributed environment, the limits of which are defined by the technological environment.

A stock-market driven reformulation of multinational capital budgeting

Article Abstract:

A new method, using stock-market valuation standards, is proposed for classifying cross-border capital investments. The methodology is illustrated with an example of a multinational corporation based in the European Union and considering projects in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Japan. The three projects are summarized and ranked using the stock-market driven method, the traditional method and the adjusted present value method.

Chaos, non-linear systems and day-to-day management

Article Abstract:

The Chaos and Non-linear Systems theories have never been applied to day-to-day management because they have previously been considered too complex to understand. Fast methods of the application of various theoretical aspects such as the attractor points, damping and amplifying effects and self-reinforcing virtuous and vicious spirals are discussed. An organisation can obtain strategic direction from these studies.
