Liverpool's champion: Tony Woof sees the Liverpool Architecture and Design Trust's architecture centre as the focus of the city's creative talent

Article Abstract:

Tony Woof is director of the Liverpool Architecture and Design Trust, which will commission and run the city's planned architecture centre. Woof studied art in Liverpool during the 1970s, and later joined North West Arts Board as a visual arts officer. Woof comes from a non-architectural background and is concerned about perceptual shifts and mechanisms than enable change. The trust is involved in the setting up of the Liverpool Public Art Trust and is also working with the National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside audit.

Refurbishment: a factory for art rises from Liverpool ashes

Article Abstract:

Merseyside's first art conservation centre will use a restored Liverpool, UK, Victorian railway goods depot to conserve the collections of the National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM). The decision to start the project was based on 60% of the NMGM's collections being in a poor state. The various buildings at the depot are ideal for the various functions of the conservation centre, housing workshops for metal artefacts, sculptures, textiles and paintings.
