Novartis to pay Infinity to develop cancer treatments

Article Abstract:

Novartis AG of Switzerland has an agreement with Infinity Pharmaceuticals of the United States to finance pharmaceutical development for cancer treatments. Infinity Pharmaceuticals will receive $30 million in financing upfront for research, licensing fees and an equity investment. Total financing from Novartis AG could reach $400 million if particular goals are met.

CA reports 64% decline in profit

Article Abstract:

CA Inc. of the United States posted a 64 percent drop in first quarter net profit to $35 million although revenue rose 3 percent to $956 million from $927 million last year. Revenues were due to loss leaders in expenses and commission costs. The software giant is planning job cuts to 11 percent of its workforce.
