Low oil stockpiles may become norm, energy agency says

The International Energy Agency said that the major oil-consuming nations are facing record-low inventories for the 2003 winter. The agency said that this could become a trend. Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development countries posted 2.55 million barrels in July 2003, a drop from the same 2002 period.

Major oil buyers in Asia increase imports by 7.9%

Japan, China, and South Korea have reported an increase of 29.6 million metric tons in their combined crude oil purchases for the year up to November 2004. Analysts expect the demand for oil in Asia to continue increasing. They cite economic expansion in China as a major factor in lifting global demand.
