Lufthansa posts loss and cuts outlook amid fuel-cost woes

Article Abstract:

German airline Lufthansa is attributing its second-quarter net loss to a high tax bill and poor returns on its investment in catering service and tour operator Thomas Cook. Though the company still forecasts a year-end profit, it has tempered the expected amount of that profit and has said that it may need to place a surcharge on airline tickets to cover the high cost of aircraft fuel.
