AXA says its net profit rose 12% last year

Net profit for AXA Group of France was up by 12 percent to 4.17 billion Euros ($4.94 billion) in 2005 from 3.74 billion Euros in 2004. The insurance giant had increased performance of savings and life insurance products in the United States and strong performance of non-life products in Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and Turkey.

Royal and Sun adds to holdings: U.K. insurer to buy rest of Danish firm, paying $1.16 bil

Article Abstract:

British insurance firm Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance Group PLC announced plans to purchase the remaining 25% of Denmark's Codan A/S not already owned by Royal and Sun. The deal, valued at $1.16 bil, will be partly funded with new shares of $595.9 mil.
