Marconi posts operating profit

Article Abstract:

Marconi PLC announced that its operations broke even in the second quarter ended 9/30, and its debt-reduction program is on track. Heavy cost-cutting helped the company make an operating profit of GBP5 million (Euro8 million) for the quarter, versus a loss of GBP227 million in the previous fiscal first quarter.

Nokia net climbs on Asian growth, marking recovery

Article Abstract:

Nokia Corp. first quarter net income rose 18 percent, $863 million Euro ($1.13 billion) from $729 million Euro of last year and sales increased 17 percent to $7.4 billion from $6.35 billion Euro. Increased market share, particularly in Asia is the magic. Shipments to China rose 69 percent to 7.1 million.
