Science claims to be the way to the truth because of its procedures, but Christopher Martyn of Southhampton Univ has raised serious questions about those procedures. Martyn and his colleagues concentrated on examining the process of peer review and found it generally faulty and ineffective.

A femtosecond is one quadrillionth of a second, and femtochemists study chemical actions that take place in femtoseconds. They use a specialized laser that can measure femtosecond pulses. The research of Dr Ahmed Zewail and other femtochemists is discussed.
