Article Abstract:

Sutcliffe Catering, the second-largest contract caterer in the UK, was purchased suddenly by Granada in Mar 1993, having been sold by P and O without any warning to its staff. There was considerable initial concern about the deal, but Granada managed the process very carefully. The experiences of this takeover, particularly the lack of communication with staff, allowed Sutcliffe to handle its purchase of Forward Civil Service Catering in Feb 1994 much more effectively.

Configurable offers and winner determination in multi-attribute auctions

Article Abstract:

Extension of the concept of multi-attribute auctions to allow for configurable offers along with its usefulness for suppliers in specifying the bids is focused. The analysis of the winner determination problems occurring in case of multiple sourcing is also discussed.
