Model-building for group decision support: issues and alternatives in knowledge elicitation

Article Abstract:

The creation of system dynamics models depends on information gathering, analysis of possible courses of action and assessment of all factors involved in management decision making. Although available decision support software packages are helpful, guidelines are necessary for better structuring of the knowledge elicitation process. Five key factors are discussed to help modelers manage the knowledge elicitation process more effectively. Examples on modeling Dutch Health Care and medical malpractice insurance decision conferences are presented. Systematic research is recommended for more organized and effective model-building for group decision support systems.

A new foundation for the man-variance analysis

Article Abstract:

A simplified version of the coarse utility theory is proposed to re-examine in what way the mean-variance analysis is consistent with stochastic dominance and the expected utility theory. The proposed version proves that decision-making is consistent with the mean-variance analysis.
