Singapore investors hold money close to the vest

Article Abstract:

Competition in the fund management sector in Singapore is getting stiff with the influx of many foreign investment management firms but the country's citizens are not about to surrender most of their hard-earned money to those firms. They believe that banks are more stable and investments in other assets such as property are safer. Despite this cool reception, money managers are hopeful that the industry will eventually prove to be profitable.
