Article Abstract:

Multimedia, owner of Tandem newspaper in west-end Toronto, Canada, and the Italian Daily News, has acquired seven local community papers from Town Crier. The Town Crier properties cover Toronto that include the Beaches, Rosedale, Forest Hill and North Toronto neighborhoods as well as Markham, Ontario. The acquisition is expected to increase Multimedia's distribution of 62,000 to 350,000, or a total volume sales of about C$8 million-C$10 million.

FFI Fragrances

Article Abstract:

FFI Fragrances announced that it agreed to acquire the Elizabeth Arden and Elizabeth Taylor cosmetics and fragrances business from Unilever Group for $190 million. The Miami Lakes, FL-based company believes that the acquisition would double its sales, improve profitability and increase its operating income by two or three times. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2000.
