Multinational enterprise strategy, foreign direct investment and economic development: the case of the Hungarian banking industry

Article Abstract:

An aggressive approach was taken by Hungary in welcoming foreign investment during the post communist transition period and as a result has had the highest per capita FDI in the region as of 2001. with regard to transition economies , the strategic intent and resource seeking FDI can show a short-term impact on the economic development while market serving FDI Strategically shows a long-term presence along with an increase in benefits for the economic development of the transition economy.

Accelerated internationalization by emerging markets' multinationals: the case of the white goods sector

Article Abstract:

The different patterns that may be followed by emerging markets' multinational enterprises (EM-MNEs) are analyzed. It also examines how EM-MNEs such as Haier, Mabe, and Arcelik, have pursued global growth through rapid internationalization and strategic and organizational innovation. It is concluded that the experiences of these companies show the several trajectories and strategies for global growth.

Services and the changing economic base of regions in the United States

Article Abstract:

A study on the growth of the economic base of regions in the United States over a brief time period (1997-2004) using the regional employment statistics measured in the standard industrial classification (SIC) and North American industry classification system (NAICS) classification systems is explained.
