Nasty isn't nice

Article Abstract:

The contest between Democratic presidential candidates has involved some fierce attacks. Al Gore claims that Bill Bradley plans to raise taxes to help pay for health care, and argues that Bradley has damaged race relations. There are fewer differences between the candidates than at other times, and many areas where they both agree, for example that spending on health care and pre-school programs should be increased. Gore could alienate some activists with his attacks.
