Neighbors feel the fallout from Japan's falling yen

Article Abstract:

Japan's declining yen against US dollars and other Asian currencies has elicited different reactions from neighboring countries. Some Asian companies have favored the yen's weakening because of reduced current deficits and cheaper costs of machines and components purchased from Japan. Other countries have regarded it as another form of a business strategy to boost Japan's foreign-exchange market because a weaker yen is expected to attract tough competition against other exporting countries.

Transplanting Singapore into China proves tricky

Article Abstract:

The plan by Singapore to transform Suzhou, China into a bustling business metropolis not unlike itself involves the establishment of an industrial park in what is currently 70 sq. km. of agricultural land. This venture is a cooperative activity between Singapore and China, which nevertheless appears formidable because of the difficulty of replacing age-old Chinese bureaucratic methods with the efficient management style of Singapore.
