New CACI Service Is Based On Job Location

Article Abstract:

CACI Inc. is launching a new information system called Workforce. Workforce uses two information sources - a Profiles Database, which offers information on areas with at least 3000 workers, and a Demographic Database, which produces more detailed analysis of concentrated areas such a city centers. The data base will act as a management tool providing information on market identification and business location. CACI's ACORN provides a market analysis of where people live; Workforce will provide information on where people work. The demographic information is expected to add business-to-business users and clients such as builders, banks, advertisers and retailers. A photograph of office workers is included.

On the efficiency of location decisions under discriminatory pricing

Article Abstract:

Delivered pricing policies do not foster an insufficient geographical distribution of firms and overconcentration of productive capacity. A study on spatial pricing and location decision debunks the common belief that identical delivered pricing systems result in a highly inefficient distribution of production sites. However, in markets with coordination problems, overconcentration of productive capacity may take place.
