New MATE for Fokker Space

Article Abstract:

Fokker Space of the Netherlands introduced its ultra-lightweight unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) concept, developed under a Royal Netherlands Army research contract, in the Oct 2000 Netherlands Defense Manufacturers Assn Annual Symposium/Exhibition held in The Hague, Netherlands. The UAV, known as Man-portable Aerial Terrain Explorer (MATE), is a low-cost lightweight air vehicle with a flight endurance of 30 minutes and a typical operational range of 5km.

US Marine Corps evaluates remotely piloted K-MAX helicopter

Article Abstract:

Kaman Aerospace Corp is developing a remotely piloted version of the K-MAX logistics helicopter for the US Marine Corps under a $4.2-million contract. The package is part of the US Marine Corps Warfighting Labs' (MWCL) Broad-area Unmanned Responsive Resupply operation program. The aircraft will be evaluated by the MCWL for its ability to deliver externally slung loads to precise locations autonomously during resupply missions and then return to base.

Remotely piloted helicopter proposed for Jordanian border control

Article Abstract:

FOUCADE, a fiber-optically controlled remotely piloted helicopter, is to be presented to the Jordanian Special Operations Command for ppotential border control applications. FOUCADE was created in response to a special operations command requirement in France for an anti-ambush and command- assistance device. A more simple version, called FOUCADE II, is scheduled for launching in Sep 2000.
