New chief is lined up for Global TeleSystems

Article Abstract:

Global TeleSystems Group Inc. (GTS) is expected to appoint H. Brian Thompson as its new chairman and chief executive. Global TeleSystems is a European operator of fiber optic networks. McLean-based GTS telecommunications assets are entirely based in Europe and Russia. GTS recently purchased Esprit Telecom Group PLC for a price of $645 million. The company now owns one of the largest cross-border fiber optic networks in Europe.

Deutsche Telekom makes offer to acquire One2One

Article Abstract:

Deutsche Telekom AG has made a bid to purchase One2One for 7.5 billion pound sterling (11.24 billion euros). One2One is a wireless operator based in the UK. The deal could be concluded within a week's time. One2One is one of the smallest cellular telephone services in Great Britain. Deutsche Telekom is only bidder that continues to express in interest in acquiring One2One.
