News Corp. posts an 8.3% net rise for the first half

News Corp. posted a rise in net profit of 8.3% for its first half which ended on December 31, 1998. News Corp. reported A$969 million (US$625 million) in net profits for the period. During the same period in 1997, News Corp. posted A$895 million. The company's earnings were based on a 33% increase in its sales from A$8.95 billion to A$11.9 billion.

News Corp. swings to net loss, but operating income rises

News Corp. posted a net loss for the second-quarter period ending December 31, 2000. The company posted a three cents per American depositary receipt net loss for the period. However, operating income for the period increased from $252 million to $270 million.

News Corp.'s earnings decline on newspaper, film weakness

News Corp. posted a decline of 15% in its operating income for the third-quarter ending March 2001. The company posted $356 million (402.9 million euros) in operating income for the period.
