Oil co. is drilling home its new name

Article Abstract:

Canadian Occidental Petroleum has changed its name to Nexen. The name change is a legal requirement of its separation agreement from Occidental Petroleum Corp. Nexen was selected from thousands of other possibilities with the assistance of branding company Interbrand tudhope, CanOxy employees and Calgary;s Parallel Strategies. The name was chosen since it was a contraction of new, exploration and energy, was easy to pronounce and had the added attraction of being a palindrome.
