One for the '33' generation: Nomad takes some mystery out of MP3

Article Abstract:

Creative Technologies' Nomad Jukebox is described as a souped-up MP3 player that allows approximately 150 CD's, or 6 gigabytes, worth of music to be stored. Nomad can be hooked up to a PC, or can provide portable access to remote audio units such as home and car stereo systems and even hotel TV.

Many encyclopedias on CD-ROM offer promise, but with glitches

Article Abstract:

CD-ROM encyclopedias are updated with new information on a daily basis, but much of the information purchased can be found for free on the Internet. Despite containing a wealth of new information, Britannica Deluxe 2001 and Microsoft's Encarta Deluxe 2001 cost $50 and come with software glitches and old data.

A simple idea faxes e-mail to folks without computers

Article Abstract:

The Panasonic unit of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. has developed the UF-E1, a desktop device that can send copies of paper documents as e-mail attachments. It can also print out incoming e-mail and function as a photocopier. The machine adds a personal element to e-mail by allowing electronic transmission of handwriting.
