Osman Ahmed Osman: Egypt's Private Sector Crusader

Article Abstract:

Osman Ahmed Osman is founder of the Middle East's largest construction group. Osman is also a politician and Egypt's leading champion of the private enterprise system. Arab Construction Co. (ACC) is responsible for nearly half of all construction done in Egypt. It is currently involved in center-pivot irrigation desert farming and the development of new private companies. Osman is involved in Egypt's open door policy encouraging foreign investment in Egyptian industry. Osman is very paternalistic and protective of his employees and regards the numbers of individuals he has trained as his greatest satisfaction. His is a humane approach with relatively little emphasis on wealth or personal acquisition.

Consolidation in the furnishing sector

Article Abstract:

The furnishing industry was active in May 2001 with several mergers and acquisitions occurring in the mid-market. The wood market also saw Finnish company Finnforest acquire the Norwegian forestry group Moelven Industrier ASA.

Use of Monte Carlo simulation for the public sector: an evidence-based approach to scenario planning

Article Abstract:

A statistical method that may be employed in evidence-based scenario planning is analyzed. The use of Monte Carlo simulation for the public sector is also discussed.
