Article Abstract:

Graphel Inc.'s search for a distributor for its graphite die cut molds in Mexico, an endeavor that it has been pursuing for almost a decade, was aided by Cinergy Corp.'s export assistance program. The program, part of the utility's "Competitive Edge" program, is aimed at helping its clients go global in the belief that an expansion in their clients business will result in an increase in their energy needs. West Chester, OH-based Graphel's strategic partnership with Cinergy is currently being emulated all over the US, specially with the coming full deregulation of the energy sector.

Manufacturing in Mexico

Article Abstract:

The maquiladora industries in Mexico has become biggest foreign exchange earner for the country and the second-largest tax revenue earner next only to oil. The industry began in 1964 as an economic development program located along the US-Mexico border featuring labor-intensive light industry. There are currently 3,100 maquiladora plants in the country employing over one million workers. Their products have been expanded to include electronics, apparel, automotive parts and consumer goods.

El Salvador and Honduras reach agreement on regional power grid

Article Abstract:

El Salvador and Honduras have formed an agreement to jointly establish an electricity interconnection for Central America's first regional power grid. The deal is expected to encourage foreign investors to consider the region for new power generation projects. The power grid will solve the area's problems involving electricity transfer throughout Central America and electricity shortages.
