Article Abstract:

Steel-framed modular or volumetric building construction is now firmly established in the UK. It is becoming increasingly popular for hotel and fast-food buildings. It has also been used in the construction of affordable housing for the first time. In the residential sector, steel-framed modular systems are most appropriate for flat-type dwellings of between three and six storeys. Manufacturing systems using standardized components can offer a wide and flexible range of parts.
