Quantifying the Benefits of Information Systems

Article Abstract:

The financial advantage of computerized information systems is analyzed. Where management information systems are involved, revenues function only where computers produce a preferable level of data, and that data substantially contributes to the worth of decisions. An innovative structure for management information systems is developed. Sequence transactions is featured in the structural development. Bayesian Information and System Dynamics links are highlighted. A likely structure for management information system analysis is the transaction, data creation, decision, and reaction progression.

Sampling for quality inspection and correction: AOQL performance criteria

Article Abstract:

The average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) sampling method for quality inspection and correction is tested for applicability in auditing. THe AOQL plan requires that the whole population be inspected if the sample yields a prescribed numberof defective items and surpasses the acceptance level set. An extensive Monte Carlo simulation is used to test the results. The effect of subdividing the annual population into subgroups and of underestimating the original fraction are also examined.

Analysis and comparison of two strategies for multi-item inventory systems with joint replenishment costs

Article Abstract:

Indirect grouping strategies for multi-inventory systems with joint replenishment costs are better than direct grouping approaches. A comparative simulation study of these two strategies reveal that the former slightly outperforms the latter and calculations require less computer time. Performance is measured as the percentage of cost savings of a joint replenishment strategy compared with an independent strategy.
