A new legislation on Fishery and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources signed by President Putin has ushered in an new era for the fishing industry. The new law has led to the simplification of the quota share system for the next five years. Fishing in the Far Eastern provinces in Russia like Primoriye, Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Magadan has begun in right earnest from January 3 2005.
