MCI WorldCom posted strong rise in 4th-quarter net

MCI WorldCom Inc. said that its net income for the 1999 fourth-quarter almost tripled. The company posted $1.30 billion in quarterly net income, compared to $460 million during the same period in 1998.

Qwest's net beats estimates; stock rebounds by 5.1%

Article Abstract:

Qwest Communications International Inc. posted higher-than-expected earnings for the second-quarter of 1999. The earnings helped the company's share value increase by 5.1%. Qwest posted $18.5 million in quarterly net income, a two cents per share result. During the same period in 1998, the company reported a $808.9 million loss. Analysts predicted a one cent per share earnings.
