Reinventing excellence: presenting Asia's most creative managers

Article Abstract:

Management's primary goal is to reinvent industries and produce strategies that will further the standards of excellence. Excellent companies are those that can keep changing and improving. Thirty-seven excellent companies in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines received the Asian Management Awards presented by the Far Eastern Economic Review magazine. The categories and criteria include marketing management, operations management, people development and management, information-technology management, and development management.

The innovators: general management

Article Abstract:

Six Asian companies received Asian Management awards in the general management category. They were DBS Land of Singapore, Kang Yong Electric of Thailand, Astra International of Indonesia, Procter & Gamble of the Philippines, Hong Kong Electric, and Renong Group of Malaysia. These companies are involved in construction, electricity supply and appliances, property development and consumer products among other areas.

Down with complacency: financial management

Article Abstract:

Six Asian companies received the Asian Management Award for financial management. They are Cycle & Carriage of Singapore, TA Enterprise of Malaysia, Alphatec Electronics of Thailand, Heng Seng Bank of Hong Kong, Telekomunikasi Indonesia, and Citytrust Banking Corp. of the Philippines. These companies are growing due to their awareness of the market and efforts to remain competitive.
