Relationship banking: trial shows Merrill had courted Enron

Article Abstract:

A case brought against Merrill Lynch and Company Inc. is looking into an investment agreement that company made with now defunct Enron Corp. to purchase interest in power-producing barges located off the coast of Nigeria. Four former executives at Merrill Lynch and two from Enron are charged with engineering the deal as part of a plan to fraudulently boost Enron's year-end earnings.
