Apple Opens Door to Independence

Article Abstract:

An Apple II system was modified to allow a user paralysed from the neck down to take advantage of the machine's word processing capabilities. This was accomplished by adding four extra switches to the keyboard, eliminating the need to depress more than one key at a time. An Olivetti printer was added that could function as both an electric typewriter and printer.

Talking to the Dolphins - with the Help of an Apple

Article Abstract:

Communication with dolphins can be conducted through an audio program which transmits sounds out of human range and displays the frequency on the screen. Research on communication between dolphins is part of this research project. A home version using a keyboard transmits dolphin-like sounds. The packaged program uses Music-System from Mountain Computer.
