The queen of the night

Article Abstract:

Tulips became the object of speculation in the 17th century, and a futures market developed in 1634 in tulips to be delivered in summer 1635. Tulips prices dropped since growers had increased supply. The speculative bubble that developed has been compared to later stock market bubbles. There was a later bubble focusing on hyacinths, but it was not as serious as tulipmania. There has been increased interest in tulipmania and a number of works have been published on this topic.
