Ripple effect: bust-up at Hongkong's Arral makes waves

Article Abstract:

A fight for control of Arral Pacific Equity Trust II (APT2), a Hongkong-based investment fund worth $176 million, is now developing between its founders, merchant bankers Anil Thadani and Louis Bowen. APT2's lucrative fees for managing the fund are inducing some of Hongkong's largest investment managers to seek control of it. The dispute, which arose over financial difficulties and disagreements over prospective land purchases, will probably reduce Hongkong investment managers' freedom of action.
