Rising above Riyadh with cool concrete pours

Article Abstract:

A new high-rise building in the centre of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a mixed-use development which will provide various facilities, such as apartments, a hotel, offices and retail units. The project is due to be completed by Apr 2000. The Al Faisaliah building is 30 storeys high making it the tallest building in the city. The building was designed by architects Foster and Partners who won a competition to design the building in 1993. The use of concrete in the building was very difficult due to the high temperatures in the city.
