How oil dependence fuels U.S. policies

United States energy policy needs to become more independent, as oil imports are up more than 60 percent, up from 50 percent ten years ago. Economic gains in Iraq have not panned as oil production there is down. The cost of petroleum has risen to approximately $65 a barrel and oil reserves are down.
