Rs350-CR IPS POWER PROJECT HITS ROADBLOCK

Article Abstract:

Permission has not yet been given by the Central Water Commission to draw water from the Cauvery river for the proposed Rs350 crore 110 mw naphtha-based combined cycle power plant being set up near Mysore by IPS Power Company. The company is also finding it difficult to conform to certain conditions laid down in the power purchase agreement prepared by the Karnataka Electricity Board. A condition laid down for foreign exchange adjustment on foreign debts has deprived the company of the benefits accruing from depreciation. Foreign exchange protection on the equity portion of depreciation has not been provided. (khr)
