BPL REFRIGERATION REPORTS NET LOSS OF Rs41.5 CRORE FOR 18 MONTHS

BPL Refrigeration Ltd has declared a net loss of Rs41.5 crore on sales of Rs270.93 crore for the 18 months ended September 30, 1998. Its cumulative loss for the period stands at Rs39.8 crore while interest outgo was Rs42.64 crore. Its net sales have increased by 36.8 percent to Rs108.25 crore in the first half of 1998-99 against Rs79.13 crore in the first half of 1997-98. The company's operating profit was Rs10.17 crore against Rs5.53 crore. (khr)

Searle (India) Ltd of the RPG group recorded sales of Rs88 crore in the first 4 months of 1998-99. The RPG group is now holding talks with Monsanto's GD Searle for a 50:50 pharmaceutical joint venture. Searle (India) Ltd will be re-named as RPG Lifesciences Ltd from January 1, 1999. (uh)
