German Trostberg-based SKW Trostberg is to acquire Ingredient Systems Division (ISD) of Bunge Food Corp of Atlanta, US. ISD, a producer of food supplements, has an annual turnover of US$ 70mn. In the future, it will belong to SKW Biosystems Inc of Langhorne. By the acquisition, the SKW division of flavours and fruit mixes not only extends its presence on the markets of the US west coast, but also becomes one of the leading companies in that field, says SKW managing board member Michael Witzel.

For Fessel-GfK, which is already active in seven central/eastern European countries, the acquisition of USM is another major step in that direction. *

Barek Overseas, a Greek company based in Cyprus, is to take over Drushba, the largest producer of packaging glass in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian cartel office has cleared the deal, although Barek already holds a 45% stake in Stind. Stind has a share of 10% in the Bulgarian packaging glass market. Barek is to invest US$ 30mn to modernise the Drushba work. Drushba has a capacity of 550 mn bottles and preserve jars. It had a turnover of US$ 23.4mn in 1997.
